Just so you can understand the oddity of the Peacock’s environment, look at what is just a few blocks away. The New River runs right thru downtown Fort Lauderdale and is surrounded by luxury high rise condos.
We had lunch at a local favorite restaurant right on the river called “The Downtowner”. The tables are right there at the river so one can watch everything from the smallest little inflatable, to yachts to big Cats. The Water Bus, also called the Water Taxi, is a popular mode of transportation here with both tourists and locals. I think they will take your bicycle on board but not your scooter. So Heinz and Frenchie were landlocked.
We made a stop at Borders Books and found a magazine called Scoot Magazine. If you don’t know about it, they have a website: http://www.scootmagazine.com/index.php This is their 10th anniversary, guess we are a little late finding it. There was a brief review of a book that sounded like it would be fun to read, “How to Live Well Without Owning a Car”. Not sure we could do it, but it might be a fantastic challenge to try.
Hope you all had a safe and fun weekend and spent some time on 2 wheels.

That would be an interesting challenge to live without a car. You live in a good place to run the experiment. I'm pretty much doing it. I use the OPC (Other Peoples Cars)method (ha,ha). When I need a car I use my wife's. As long as I fill it up with gas, she's happy. With the cost of a fill-up these days though, I don't borrow her car much!
I agree that living without a car would be a challenge, and something that I wouldn't mind trying sometime. Or at least get down to one vehicle. Seems impossible at times though between work and errands and hauling big rocks.....
So for now I just ride the Vespa most of the time. 95 percent of the time.

Hi Kano, we actually have more scooters than cars now. Only one car and two scooters. Planning to keep it that way too. I bet you have more cycles than cars too. Maybe you should write a book! You are quite prolific. You've probably already got one in your blogs just waiting to be published.
Steve, Don't know how you do it, ride the Vespa 95% of the time, but love to read about it. So we are behind you all the way. I ordered the book used from Amazon as I think it has some valuable information in it. It has lots of stats in it for cars versus 2 wheelers.
